MEET THE STAFF

Dr. Carolyn Love

I am a 1986 graduate of Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine. My passion is Chinese medicine to include Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs. I also enjoy nutritional medicine, soft tissue surgery, and internal western medicine for dogs, cats, birds, and small exotic animals.

I opened Love Pet Hospital in 1994. My mission continues: to provide high-quality veterinary care with the same kindness and compassion in which we would treat our own pets and friends.

I am a member of the following organizations:

* AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association)
* TVMA (Texas Veterinary Medical Association)
* CAVMA (Capital Area Veterinary Medical Association)
* AAV (Association of Avian Vets)
* IVAS (International Veterinary Acupuncture Society)
* AVCA (American Veterinary Chiropractic Association)

My five kids include: 2 Labs (rescues from the pound); Arjuna and Shanti, 1 Abby cat named Ra, and 2 Eclectus Parrots, Rama and Sita.

I am keenly aware of the human-animal companion bond. Most of my clients treat their pets as their own children. You will see by reading the short biographies below, that myself and my staff feel the same way.

I have completed the certification course for Animal Chiropractic. The course was located in Dallas at Parker Chiropractic, which is one of three accredited Animal Chiropractic schools in the country. The course took six months to complete. The Animal Chiropractic course is open only to graduate Veterinarians and Chiropractors. Chiropractic works well on its own or in combination with Acupuncture.

We honor that bond, and treat our patients with the gentle kindness they deserve.

Mikki

I am a native Austinite, living in the country SE of town with my four fur-face kiddos. I began working at an Austin vet clinic in my teens; but youth brought out a job-hopping inclination & I spent several years in various office positions. In the mid 80s my love for animals kicked back in and I began working at a local boarding kennel where I learned and earned my way from pooper-scooper to office manager over the next 13 yrs.

Then I moved from Austin to Rosenberg for a few years and worked as a veterinary technician/receptionist at a Katy veterinary clinic. While there, I earned certifications in several pet care courses. In 2000, I moved back to Austin and was re-hired as office manager at the kennel that I had left. I also began taking some veterinary technician courses offered by ACC, but real life intervened and I had to quit both that job and ACC.

After several years of not working outside the home, I applied for this receptionist job and was thrilled when I was hired into this wonderful family of "LOVE"!

I currently have 5 pets-Harley, Qui Chang, Blake, Slick and Max. I married my perfect husband Jason in October 2005. I started working at LPH in March 2006. I also enjoy nature photography and going to festivals of any kind. Last but not least, I am a big fan of University of Texas baseball and the Chicago Cubs!
